Q: How do I know what program is best for me, strength
training or Pilates? Upon completion of a lifestyle and fitness assessment, we will review the recommendations
and your goals to determine which program is best for you. Given the three primary components of exercise programming
(cardio, flexibility, and resistance), is possible that Pilates would be incorporated into the program design. At LIVE
IT FITNESS, because Mary Beth is highly skilled and trained in both Pilates and Strength Training, you have the advantage
of having Pilates (including work on the Reformer or Wunda chair) incorporated into your program design
Q: I prefer to have you come to my house, but I don't have any equipment.
How does that work?
I can still come to your home if you don't have any equipment. I bring an assortment
of weights and other equipment to ensure you get a good workout. We can also include Pilates in our program. There are
other alternatives to getting cardio such as: hiking at Fort Ben Harrison, Mall walking, Biking on the Monon.
Q: I prefer to work with you on strength training and do cardio on
my own. Will you do that?
Yes. Depending on your fitness goals, our sessions would focus on strength
training and flexibility. Additionally, through circuit training, we can incorporate cardio into our sessions when you aren't
able to otherwise fit your cardio into your dailly routine.
Q: Do I have to have clearance from my doctor?
I prefer to get your doctor's clearance regardless of any medical history. As part of my assessment, I will
get information regarding your medical background which will help me determine if I believe a doctor's clearance is
needed. Some examples of situations wherein I would request a physician's clearance are as follows: the client
is smoking or has quit within the last 6 months, the client has a family history of heart disease, the client leads a sedentary
lifestyle, etc.
Q: I am an avid golfer,
would Pilates work to improve my swing?
Since Pilates focuses on muscle strengthening and lengthening and improving
flexibility, the exercises in the Pilates Method can be very effective for golfers.
Q: I have a pre-teen who is not getting enough exercise, do you work
with children or pre-teens?
Absolutely. A program for your child or teen would be designed based on yours
and his/her goals with a focus on keeping it fun, challenging and motivational. Depending on the situation, a medical
clearance form may be required.
